Historic Houses VAT and Listed Buildings Survey

Historic Houses has launched a survey seeking to examine the effects of Value-Added Tax (VAT) on the repair, maintenance and restoration of heritage buildings. They’re seeking perspectives from those organisations that own or manage listed buildings that are open to the public, which includes hundreds of industrial heritage sites in England, with the goal of examining potential benefits of a VAT rebate scheme.

Historic Houses is a cooperative, not-for-profit, association comprising more than a thousand independently owned and operated houses, castles, and gardens across the UK. https://www.historichouses.org/

The survey is being carried out on behalf of Historic Houses by Harlow Consulting. The information gathered will help Historic Houses make the case for change to the government. The questions relate to five main themes: basic details about the heritage property, the impacts of VAT, the condition of the heritage property, the cost of repair works, and the place of the property in the wider community.
