This year’s SPAB National Mills weekend will take place on 13 and 14 May. The theme will be ‘Millwrighting – Past and Present’ to celebrate the repair of wind and watermills which allows these important historical buildings to survive for future generations to come.
National Mills Weekend takes place across Britain every May, with more than 300 windmills and watermills usually open to the public to celebrate the country’s rich milling heritage. As well as in-person visits the event is also online via YouTube and the SPAB Mills Section social media channels. Use the hashtag #NationalMillsWeekend to find more details. Mildred Cookson SPAB Mills Section Chair said ”We are hoping that National Mills Weekend 2023 will once more have all mills opening their doors, and owners and volunteers will be able to share their enthusiasm for these buildings.”
Find mills across the UK using the ‘Visit a Mill’ pages on the SPAB website here. Please check opening days and times before visiting.
