Airbnb, the online room booking service, has recently launched it’s own funding stream. Their Community Tourism Programme will provide up to €5 million in funding for investments in sustainable, community-based tourism projects across Europe through 2020. They are interested in hearing from projects in emerging and established markets that help drive more sustainable tourism that supports local culture, heritage and economy.

Funding will be available for projects in the following categories:

Placemaking

Innovation

Festivals and Events

For the first round of funding, they are welcoming letters of interest from organisations and projects in the tourism, sustainability and community development space.  The deadline for expressions of interest is August 4, 2017.
