Historic England has launched a new guide, ‘Heritage Works for Creative Businesses’. This new publication is designed to help developers who want to transform empty and underused historic buildings into thriving creative industry hubs.
Heritage and the creative industries are major sectors of the UK economy. The former is often inspiration for the latter with, according to Historic England ‘our rich history playing an integral role in shaping art, film, television, fashion, technology, and music.’ Historic England argues that ‘together, heritage and creativity are strong pillars of our soft power, influencing trade, inbound tourism, investment and politics.’
This new guide makes the case for regenerating historic buildings for creative businesses. It offers a step-by-step guide to enabling the navigation of the process from neglected historic building to a hub for the local community and creative economy.
