Historic England is offering a range of courses, workshops, webinars, and networking to support heritage organisations on their Net Zero journey. This is part of HE’s ‘Sector to Net Zero’ programme. This initiative provides guidance and practical tools for measuring carbon footprints, developing carbon reduction plans, and embedding sustainability across heritage organisations.
This free training covers:
- Heritage Carbon Literacy Training – An online, certified course giving teams the foundation to understand carbon emissions and take action.
- Heritage Carbon Reduction Training – Hands-on workshops and e-learning modules to help organisations calculate emissions and create actionable reduction plans.
- Webinars – Covering topics from trustee engagement and landlord-tenant collaboration to decarbonising historic buildings and managing soil carbon in archaeological contexts.
- Heritage Carbon Reduction Network – A free online community for heritage professionals to share knowledge, ask questions, and stay updated on sector-wide sustainability initiatives.
These resources are designed for heritage organisations such as industrial heritage sites, cultural institutions, and public or private owners of historic (including industrial) buildings who want to take practical steps toward reducing their carbon footprint.
