AIA 2025 Annual Conference in Bradford: Booking Now Open

The 2025 Association for Industrial Archaeology (AIA) Annual Conference returns to its traditional format of weekend talks and the AGM, followed by 3 days of tours. The venue is Bradford and it will run from 5th to 10th September, with flexible booking for the weekend and following tour days.

Thanks to the Patrick Nott bursary, there will be five free places for the entire event from Friday to Wednesday, including accommodation, and up to £100 for travel expenses. The places are intended for those who feel they would otherwise be unable to attend. Please send details to the Conference Secretary at conference@industrial-archaeology.org at least 30 days in advance.

The Bradford Conference Programme is as follows:

  • Friday evening offers an introductory talk on the Industrial Archaeology of West Yorkshire.
  • Saturday is devoted to a series of talks on local industries, presentations to and by our Award winners and finishes with the Annual dinner.
  • Sunday morning gives time for our AGM followed by the Prestige Lecture
  • Sunday afternoon offers a choice of mining or railway heritage tours
  • Monday‘s tours go to Halifax & Saltaire (above) or Leeds & Wakefield
  • Tuesday sees us off to Huddersfield & Castleford or Calderdale & Mytholmroyd
  • Wednesday rounds off the event in Keighley & Lothersdale

The Confererence will be based in the historic Midland Hotel in the centre of Bradford. There’s a 10% discount for members, including members of AIA Affiliated Societies. AIA hope many of you will be able to in person, but the Saturday and Sunday morning will also be available via Zoom.
