Heritage Lincolnshire have been commissioned by Trafford Council, in Greater Manchester, to facilitate the co-creation of a heritage framework for the borough and its community. Through engagement with local heritage organisations, stakeholders, community members, and the public, this process will establish a shared vision for the future of Trafford’s heritage for the next 10 years.
Industrial heritage and archaeology featured strongly in the initial stages of the consultation. This is not surprising considering that the world’s first long distance industrial canal, the Bridgewater, runs through the borough, and that it also contains one of the first railway commuter lines (the Altrincham and South Junction Railway), and the Trafford Park Industrial Estate.
