National Mills Weeekend, run by the wind and water mills section of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB), was establised 20 years ago, and for the last five years SPAB has produced a film to introduce the event. 2025’s film is now live.
This year’s event runs over the weekend of the 9th and 10th May, and the new film showcases a number of wind and water mills open to the public, as well as explaining the importance of water and wind power for food production and industry over the centuries.
There are over a hundred wind and watermills in England alone taking part in this year’s weekend. Further details can be found here: https://www.spab.org.uk/mills/NMW
