A new book has been published on the regeneration and restoration of historic textile mills. Entitled ‘Mills Transformed – Stories of Mill Regeneration’ https://johnhudsonpublishing.com/mills-transformed/. it is written by Neil Horsley with a forward by Charles Smith (Policy Director, Historic England). The volume looks at the regeneration of textile mills in northern England and is richly illustrated with numerous case studies.

With chapters on the evolution of textile mills, why they should be repurposed, mill regeneration, and the development process, it demonstrates the huge potential of these buildings in providing inspiring places where people can live, work and relax. The book takes inspiration from Neil Horsley’s Mills Transformed website https://mills-transformed.com/, which documents a range of sites across the North and usefully complements the publication.
