There are a few places left on the final scheduled Heritage Carbon Literacy training being held online on 15 and 16 October. Supported by Charterted Institure for Archaeologits (CIfA) and delivered by Historic England, in partnership with the Carbon Literacy Trust, these training sessions are aimed at small to medium sized enterprises, such as industrial heritage museums and sites.
The course has been created by Historic England and is accredited by the Carbon Literacy Trust. Carbon Literacy is a keyway for organisations to gain an awareness of the causes and impacts of climate change and an understanding of carbon emissions. These courses provide a great foundation for individuals, teams, and organisations to begin to take steps towards reducing their carbon emissions and become more environmentally sustainability.
To sign up for the course, which cost £10, follow this lhttps://www.archaeologists.net/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=474ink:
There are also still places available on the ‘special sessions’ tailored to Mobile Heritage industrial sites run by the Heritage Alliance. To register for one of these sessions, visit the following EventBrite page to chose one of these dates:
- 28th & 30th October, 9.30-13.00
- 6th & 13th November, 13:00-16:30

The heritage sector has an important role to play in the climate change debate. Historic England is collecting case studies to add to the Carbon Literacy course, so if you want to share a case study please send yours to carbonliteracy@theheritagealliance.org.uk.
