Historical England Technical Conservation Webinar: What is Embodied Carbon? 27 June 2023

These free webinars, presented by Historic England’s Technical Conservation Team, provide delegates with an in-depth look at a range of technical conservation topics. On 27 June HE will be running a free session highly relevant to industrial heritage sites on ‘What is embodied carbon, how it is relevant to existing buildings and what the UK needs to do about reducing it’

Will Arnold (Head of Climate Action at The Institute of Structural Engineers) offers a brief introduction and refresher on what embodied carbon is, why it is important and how it is relevant to existing buildings, followed by an update on where the industry is now. Will explains the background to proposals to regulate embodied carbon and why this is considered a crucial tool on the UK’s journey to net zero.
